Dispelling the myths about successful networking
Even the most successful business people can be nervous about walking into a room filled with strangers, according to Molly Carey, Training and Marketing Manager at Utility & Environmental Solutions Limited, based in Ystrad Mynach.
Molly, who has built her own reputation within the SME networking community for her approach to and advice about successful networking, will be the guest speaker at the VWBN’s event, ‘Networking as a PR Strategy’, sponsored by PPM Associates Ltd at Cottrell Park Golf Club, Bonvilston, on Wednesday 18 July 2007, 7.00pm-9.00pm.
Step by step, Molly will take VWBN members and guests through what networking is and its central role to business’ PR strategy. She will also explain how to network, the places to go and the people to meet.
Molly has over 20 years experience within the customer service industry and knows the importance of creating and maintaining business relationships. She developed Kairos, her own former company, as a networking service to help businesses meet each other and now works for UES who base their entire success around a sound networking strategy.
Molly said, “It became clear to me that even successful business people dread the prospect and process of networking. There’s a lot of hype about it so I developed a presentation that has been delivered to a wide range of audiences to bridge the gap between knowing about networking and knowing how to network. I am passionate about networking and won’t have terms like ‘target the decision maker, work the room’ mentioned.”
Sian Rees, VWBN Chair, said, “Business relationships and reputations can be made or broken in networking scenarios and so it important to know how to do it with confidence. Molly’s expertise in this area is going to provide an invaluable boost to our members.”
Through regular monthly events, the VWBN offers intending and existing businesswomen opportunities for exchanging experiences, support and practical solutions to everyday business problems. All VWBN events are opportunities for business networking in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
‘Networking as a PR Strategy: how, why and who?’ will take place on Wednesday 18 July at Cottrell Park Golf Club, 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Tickets are priced £2.00 for VWBN member and £5.00 for non members. To book, email events@vwbn.org.uk
